Eyes on the stars – Space as inspiration

In advance of our science-themed issue in April, we will be bringing you events, features and news that are focused on the sciences, especially their link to arts and culture. First up is Eyes on the stars – Space as inspiration, featuring Piers Sellers in conversation with Rona Munro and John Zarnecki, at the Royal Society in London.
Little Eagles, written by playwright Rona Munro, tells the extraordinary story of Sergei Korolyov, chief designer and unsung hero of the Soviet space programme. Organised in partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company, who are staged a production of Little Eagles at the Hampstead Theatre in April, the evening’s discussion between Little Eagles playwright Rona Munro, Professor of Space Science John Zarnecki and Dr Piers Sellers (a NASA astronaut) will focus on the incredible space race between the USSR and the USA, it’s legacy in popular culture, literature, the arts and human aspiration, as well as comparing the challenges faced in modern space exploration with those in Korolyov’s era.
